This is actually my first fic, of any sort, and my first attempt at writing since about 9 years ago. So please try to bear my awkward prose. Kara "Starfrak" Thrace is a conflicted mess who is good with a stick. Most of this comes from the fact she has a destiny... which was to piss off the fans with her stupid affair with her dead fiancee's retarded brother. Also, she was super-powered in the first season, being the best at pretty much everything until she landed on whatever hellhole Helo and his frak-bot were on.

That means she can fly men as well as she can fly a Viper ... which means both tend to crash and burn. Not even her husband can escape this fate.

Thrace also has the tendency, shall we say, to make herself available to many of the men on Galactica. Maybe she would have done the same to Admiral Cain had she lived.

How did Lee and Kara become military officers?
Although I've always loved Academy fanfic I never believed either Lee or Kara attended any Colonial Military Academy that equated to the four year collegiate institutions such as Annapolis. I've explained in some detail before the accession of USN verus USNR officers, basically USN being initially limited to Academy graduates, and the possibilities and methods for others to augment sometime after USNR commissioning to USN status. The revelation in the finale that indeed they had not met until well after their pilot training only reinforced my thoughts. Writing a new fanfic for

saholidayflash reawakened this conundrum for me and I'm curious what others think.

Perhaps, like Lee, I'm over-thinking. Which is of course one of the reasons I identify so with him. Also my premise is heavily based on the US university and military systems. I'd be curious though if others can see any additional options for them, especially Kara, or even just to know where you stand on the issue in light of the canonical lack of an earlier meeting for out beloved pilots.
